Fiumara d’Arte
The Fiumara d’Arte is a sculpture park, consisting of a wide range of exhibits by different contemporary artists. It is located along a dried riverbed close to the northern coast of Sicily. The initiator Antonio Presti uses this art project to fight against the Mafia in a rather unusual way.
Lipari
Museo Archeologico Regionale Eoliano
The fascinating archaeological museum of the Eolian Islands is situated on the main island of Lipari. Numerous exhibits from prehistoric times, Grecian and Roman vases and statuettes, theatre masks and ancient ornaments can be viewed here.
Citadel
The citadel of Lipari offers fantastic views to the neighbouring volcanic island of Vulcano.
Messina
Duomo
The impressive cathedral was originally built in the Norman era. It has been destroyed by earth quakes and re-built several times since.
Chiesa SS. Annunziata dei Catalani
This small Norman era church is one of the few medieval buildings surviving the numerous earth quakes that have haunted Messina over the centuries.
Museo Regionale di Messina
The regional museum contains numerous sculptures, paintings and architectural fragments from the different historical eras. The most famous exhibits are two paintings from Carravagio.

The ancient Tyndaris was founded by the Greeks and remained an important centre in Roman times. The remains of the town can be visited on a walk through the excavation site. The theatre is especially impressive.
