The province of Trapani is on the western tip of Sicily. This part of the island has the strongest Arabian influence. It was once inhabited by the mysterious Elymians, who were possibly the survivors of the Trojan War. Elymian traces can still be found in the medieval mountain village of Erice, but also in the temple and the theatre of Segesta. In Selinunte you can visit an impressively large Greek towns complex. Trapani is also Sicily's most prominent agricultural region and celebrated for its wines and olives. The region is home to the famous Marsala wine, which can be tasted in one of the many wineries.
